Not sure how I missed this, but Wired was present at a private RocketSpace event in San Francisco yesterday. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer spoke to developers about the income potential to them if they develop for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Ballmer apparently showed off the highly-anticipated upcoming Windows RT Surface tablet. Interestingly, the tablet (along with Windows 8) is set to be released at midnight on October 26th. However, I can't help but wonder what all the... Read More

John Brownlee over at Cult of Mac talks about what we can surmise from the specs of the iPhone 4. He says an A6X processor, in-cell display (maybe Sharp IGZO display), better battery, and Lightning connector. Not a bad read, but Brownlee, as per usual, doesn’t do a lot of proofreading before hitting the “publish” button. Source: Cult of Mac Did you like this? Share it: Read More
Bonnie Cha over at AllThingsD has posted a great table comparing the specs for the new iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III, and Nokia Lumia 920 running Windows Phone 8. I'm the last guy who would claim any particular phone is right for everyone, and this might help some fence-sitters decide which way they want to go if they're looking for a new smartphone. Even though Apple has never sold the iPhone based on specs, I know some people really look at hardware specs when making... Read More
I always love reading iPhone and other Apple product news and reviews from non-Apple sources. Sascha Segan has posted a hands on post with pics and video afor the iPhone 5. “The iPhone 5 doesn't need to be the highest spec phone in the world. It needs to be a well-built, competitive phone that does everything you expect from an iPhone, better.” Segan says. Nice hands on. Via: PC Mag Did you like this? Share it: Read More
Foss Patents is reporting that Motorola Mobile (owned by Google) has been judged to have infringed Apple's patent for “rubber banding”, also called “bounce back scrolling”, in a German court in Munich. Foss reports that Apple may ask for an injuction, ask that Motorola destroy all infringing devices, or issue a recall once Apple posts the appropriate bond. This would be the third injuction obtained by Apple over Motorola in Germany based on Android's... Read More

Last week's break in at the Promenade Temecula Apple Store was quite the surprise for the relatively quiet and upscale community of Temecula. We have since learned that the driver of the break in vehicle, one Equonne R. Howard (22), drove his own 2003 BMW X-5 through the glass and drop down gate. A passenger loaded up on iPods and iPhones (no MacBooks or MacBook Airs!), as Howard tried to repeatedly back the BMW out of the store after the gate dropped back down behind him. The... Read More
Delicious iPhone Cases and Skins When people think of electronics, food usually isn’t something people associate with it. For some inexplicable reason, some creators of iPhone accessories set out to make food top-of-mind for iPhone users everywhere. Heads will turn and stomachs will growl at the sight of these delectable food cases/skins for the iPhone: Japanese cuisine fans starving for sumptuous covers that show their love for that style of cooking can drool over the... Macworld is reporting that F-Secure has discovered a variant of the Flashback trojan that can infect Macs running Java, even without entering a password authorizing an “update”. Macworld reports that this malware exploits a known Java vulnerability that hasn’t been patched on the Mac platform yet, but was patched in Java for Windows back in February. Turn off Java until a patch is released, and check to see if your machine is infected advises F-Secure. Source:... Read More
Reuters is reporting that Consumer Reports has declared the new iPad the best tablet available. This despite all the hit-whoring the group has participated in in the face of Heatgate. CR findings were compared to the heat produced by other tablets by PCWorld, and found the the iPad to be average. Glad to see CR backtrack yet again… Source: Reuters Did you like this? Ok, the Courier guys created a drawing app, called “Paper”. Every blogger is falling over themselves to pile on the hyperbole about how great the app is. The only problem is, I don’t get it. The guys behind Courier created an app?! Sweet Jesus, I’m firing up the downloader! Then I opened the app. Uh, WTF? I get to draw on a blank piece of paper, and the pages can be gathered into a journal, and I can create journals? And I can apply pics to the cover of... Read More
